Effective August 8, 2010, Reinhard Wolf will become the new Global E31 Registry Agent. Mr. Wolf is assuming this responsibility from Jud Spencer, who is retiring after 8 years of service to the global BMW 8 Series community.
Mr. Spencer began his E31 journey in the late 1990’s through the purchase of multiple BMW 8 Series, including a 1991 BMW 850i 6spd and a 1994 BMW 850CSi. He took over the E31 Registry from Mr. Bert Smith, the founder, August 1, 2002. Under his 8 years of Registry leadership, the Registry achieved the following:
Registered 1,850 BMW 8 Series worldwide from over 60 countries versus 28 cars from 08/2002;
Helped establish and coordinate the efforts of the global Registry Volunteer Team;
Inventoried all 30,621 BMW 8 Series built from 1989 until production end 05/1999;
Launched 8coupe.com;
Assisted in global cataloging 5,622 BMW 8 Series;
Obtained recognition from BMW North America through their community referral website; and
Actively promoted the 8er with automotive journalists and the general BMW community.
Mr. Wolf has been an active member of the 8 series scene since 2003. His passion for the E31 led to the purchase of cars from the Japan bound M-Individual and the Middle East Platinum special editions. His keen interest in the in-depth history of the 8er resulted in a longstanding and intense collaboration with Jud Spencer and the E31 registry. He is the co-founder and one of the major contributors to the 8 Series forum and knowledge chest at http://www.8er.org/.
Mr. Spencer will assist Mr. Wolf in a 60-day transition. The USA E31 Registry Agent within the BMW Car Club of America will be announced by early September 2010. Until then, Mr. Spencer will remain the USA E31 Registry Agent.
