All analyses and statistics from 8coupe.com are available free of charge in the 8er.org article system. The VIN database (VBS Reports), which includes all 8 Series vehicles along with analyses, images, and listings, is accessible online via a paid membership. To access this database, you must purchase a subscription. These revenues are used exclusively to cover the server and licensing costs for the 8er.org platform, which houses a 1 TB database.
If you are a paying member registered on 8er.org, you can access the VIN database, additional forum sections, and/or the file database, depending on your subscription.
You have the following three options for accessing the VIN data:
VIN Number Search Function
You can access the search function in the forum at any time, no matter where you are on http://www.8er.org. You’ll find the magnifying glass button in the top-right corner of the menu bar. Simply click on it once with your mouse—or tap it with your finger on a touchscreen—and a search form will appear immediately. On the left, you can select where to search. Since VIN data is stored as posts in the forum, select “Forum” there. This limits your search to the forum. For example, if you select “Events,” you won’t find any VIN numbers unless there’s an event with the VIN number you’re looking for.
Then enter the last seven letters of the VIN number in the search field, for example, CC00085. Of course, you can also use the full VIN number: WBSEG91040CC00085. You’ll see all posts with this VIN number, sorted in descending order by date. Now click on a post whose title matches the VIN number. In our example, that would be CC00085 - WBSEG91040CC00085.
There are often other posts with this VIN number that are still visible. Using the Advanced Search, you can narrow your search even further and search only by title, for example, so that other posts are no longer listed.

VIN Search Using the Filter Function
All 30,621 vehicles are fully cataloged as topics in the forum section, complete with their associated posts and documents. Only the VIN data forum section includes a filter function that allows you to view 8 Series vehicles based on criteria such as country code, model year, series, steering side, color code, upholstery code, edition, registration, and condition. After clicking the “Submit” button, all vehicles matching these criteria will be displayed, sorted in ascending order by VIN number.
You can adjust the filter criteria at any time and see the number of vehicles that meet those criteria. You can also select whether to sort in ascending or descending order on the left, as well as what to sort by. You can choose from Topic, Author, Date, Replies, Reactions, Views, and Last Action.
Clicking on one of the colored filter criteria in a post immediately applies that criterion as the filter.

Search for the Owner Using the VIN Number
Every owner can add their 8 Series vehicles to their profile themselves. All registrations from 8coupe.com have been transferred to the 8er.org owner list and profiles. This means it is now possible to find the previous or current owner using the VIN number. Owners can only be found if they have entered their own VIN number. It is not possible to enter a VIN number on behalf of another owner.
