Complete Overhaul of the Woltlab Suite Blog
The blog was getting a bit outdated technically: adding new features — whether from us or third-party developers — was disproportionately time-consuming. That's now changing fundamentally.
- Fresh layout
Thanks to our new CSS module for article listings, the blog now has a more modern and uniform look. - Seamless integration of WoltLab Suite 6.2
We are utilizing all the new features of this version, including list views and interactions. Inline editing is now consistent and convenient — even on smartphones. - Optimized image processing
Cover images benefit from the new upload pipeline: automatic scaling and precise cropping by the user take place directly during upload. - Completely based on Form Builder
For the first time, the blog is based entirely on our Form Builder. This means centralized maintenance, easier expansion through plugins, and significantly lower development costs.
New Layout for Articles and Listings
The previous layout was partly based on WoltLab Suite 3.0 and was increasingly reaching its limits when it came to new requirements. Now, the new CSS construction kit is also taking center stage here.

New CSS-Construction Kit for Article-like Content
Over the years, different layout variants for blogs, articles, and other content had crept in. The new CSS construction kit eliminates these inconsistencies and creates a common foundation.
- Developed based on our collective experience with article-style content
- Builds directly on the list view of WoltLab Suite 6.2 – including all new convenience features
- Already in use for blogs, articles, and the new WoltLab Suite Database
- Open to third-party developers to quickly design their own content with a consistent look and feel
Revised List of Conversations
The list of conversations has also been given a fresh new look and significantly upgraded in terms of functionality.
- New list view-based design
Messages are previewed, with the first image appearing as a thumbnail. - Focus on convenience features
Sorting, multiple selection, and filtering are now directly accessible — even on smartphones. - Future outlook
In the medium term, a similar display is also planned for thread lists in the forum. - Form builder integration
Facilitates maintenance and enables easy expansion via plugins.

With these upgrades, we are not only making WoltLab Suite more future-proof from a technical standpoint, but also more visually consistent and easier to expand — for us, for third-party developers, and above all for our users. The upgrade is therefore much more than just a fine-tuning: it is a noticeable step toward a modern, flexible, and uniform platform.
